A Hudson Valley teenager is accused of shooting two people including a 4-year-old girl.

According to Yonkers Police, 19-year-old Floyd Bruce, of Yonkers used a handgun to fire several shots towards of a group of people in the area of 170 Willow Street in Yonkers.

The intended adult male target was grazed by one of the rounds. He was treated and released from a hospital for a minor injury.

Another bullet hit a 4-year-old girl. The child was standing near 175 Willow Street with her parent near the shooter.

The child was hit in her leg. She suffered non-life threatening injuries. She was treated at an area hospital and later released.

Members of the Yonkers Detective Division began an intensive investigation at the scene which consisted of numerous interviews, viewing multiple video surveillance sources, and the collection of forensic evidence which included .22 caliber shell casings left at the scene. Detectives quickly developed a Bruce as the suspect.

Days after the shooting an unrelated armed robbery occurred at 2 Palisade Avenue. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the robbery. Bruce was one of two people arrested.

Police say at the time of Bruce’s arrest he was found to be in possession of a .22 caliber handgun.

He was charged with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.

Monday, Bruce was additionally charged with 2nd-degree assault in connection with the shootings.

“This case was particularly disturbing because the shooter acted with complete disregard for our residents, including children who were in the immediate area,” Yonkers Police Commissioner Charles Gardner stated. “We are going to work very hard to make sure this suspect is held fully accountable for his reckless actions. I commend our patrol personnel and detectives who worked on this important case. This should be a warning to those who choose to engage in violent activities that we will find you, arrest you, and hold you responsible.”
