A Hudson Valley teen who was allegedly under the influence of drugs is accused of assaulting a paramedic, while being taken to a hospital.

Around 5 a.m. on May 15, deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a man under the influence of drugs in the Town of Kingston.

While being transported to the hospital, Ryan J. Hoffman, 18, of Port Ewen became combative with a paramedic, police say. The paramedic suffered minor injuries.

Deputies later obtained an arrest warrant for Hoffman took him into custody at a later date. He was charged with second-degree assault, a felony.

Hoffman was arraigned in the Town of Ulster Court and released after posting bail.

Deputies were assisted by the Town of Ulster Police and New York State Police.
