A routine traffic stop has led to the recovery of drugs worth tens of thousands of dollars.

On Friday New York State Police were conducting a traffic stop on route 17 in the town of Mamakating when Troopers discovered approximately 11 ounces of powder cocaine, with a street value of approximately $20,000.

Police arrested 45 year old Robert Ballard and 43 year old Simona Ballard, both of Rock Hill, N.Y. After remanding the couple police conducted a subsequent on the couple’s home on Dartmouth Drive in Rock Hill which revealed an additional quantity of cocaine and approximately 46 grams of heroin, along with two loaded firearms.

The couple has been charge with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree, a class A-1 felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (2 counts), class C violent felonies, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (2 counts), and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (3 counts).

Robert Ballard and Simona Ballard were arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
