Hudson Valley Wing Wars drew over 1,000 people to the Mid-Hudson Civic Center on Saturday night to sample wings from some of the area's favorite restaurants.

Some 15 restaurants participated in the event, and the Crooked Rooster in Poughkeepsie received the 2016 best overall wing title -- and a $5,000 advertising credit on Townsquare Media of the Hudson Valley radio stations. The best overall wing title was selected by a panel of judges including the Poughkeepsie Journal’s John Barry, Yelp’s Jordan Wilkinson and the Culinary Institute of America’s David Barry, Scott Swartz and Dave McCue.

Attendees also voted on their favorite wing, with people's choice award going to Guavaberry Grill in Poughkeepsie.

In the week leading up to the event, Townsquare Media DJs sampled wings from the participating restaurants. The DJ choice award went to Sal's Place in Highland.
