Early Friday morning, a Kingston woman was arrested after a wild evening that ended with her allegedly attacking a police officer.

Kingston police were called to a North Front Street bar with reports of an unruly patron. When they arrived, police found Virginia Valdez who they say was involved in a bar fight and refused to leave the premises, kicking a glass door until it broke.

While being transported back to the police station, Valdez allegedly slipped out of her handcuffs and attempted to escape. Police say she then attacked an officer, punching him in the face repeatedly with the handcuffs causing lacerations to the policeman's face.

Once she was subdued, Valdez was finally taken to the Kingston police station where police say she refused to be fingerprinted and repeatedly provided false information. Valdez has been charged with Criminal Mischief, Assault, Escape, False Personation and Obstructing Government Administration. She was arrested and brought to Ulster County Jail and given a bail of $1,000.
