As we approach the middle of June it is a great time to make a list for your local farm market. So many delicious fresh fruits and vegetables are waiting to be selected for your next early summer meal with friends and family.

According to AboutFood.com there are a over two dozen fresh garden choices to add "June Flavor" to your table. June is the month that all of us in New York can start enjoying beets and broccoli, cabbage and carrots, even corn, radishes, spinach, strawberries and my person favorite snap peas.

So now that carrots and cabbage in season, it is time to start thinking coleslaw. I am going to nominate June as the official Coleslaw Month. I love coleslaw on everything. You'd think with all the festivals we have in the Hudson Valley there would be one for this amazing combination of cabbage and creamy goodness. It is my go to side. And coleslaw isn't just cabbage, carrots and mayonnaise anymore. I recently had one that had apples in it which made it the perfect side for my pulled pork sandwich.

So point the car in the direction of your favorite farmers market and pick up some fresh June veggies and maybe make your own version of coleslaw.
