The Hudson Valley is cheering one of its own today, as John Jay graduate Joe Panik is being credited with turning a double play and making one of the best defensive plays in a World Series... ever.

In game 7 against the Royals, the Giant's second baseman kept the score tied by diving to catch a ball hit by Kansas City's Eric Hosmer. Without getting up, Panik casually flipped the ball to teammate Brandon Crawford who forced out the runner at second and then threw to first to complete the double play. Hosmer was originally called safe, but after review the double play was etched into history.

The play was so good, Panik even broke his belt.

Joe Panik's double play kept the game at a tie until the Giants scored a go-ahead run in the fourth inning to go on and win the World Series.
