A George, divided against itself, can not stand.

I used that reference not even 2 days ago.

I love Seinfeld. I was still pretty young when it started running, and I was out of high school by the time it ended. Seinfeld quotes are part of my world, and for a ton of people older than me. But NOT for the younger generation.

Which is why it surprised the hell out of me that, according to Variety, Hulu bought the rights to all 180 episodes of Seinfeld, for close to $1 MILLION an episode. That's almost 1/5 of a billion dollars!

Will that make me watch Hulu? Probably not. I've seen that show in reruns for the past 15 years. I don't need to see it anymore. Will it make older people watch Hulu? I kinda doubt it. They've seen the show too.

And here's the crazy part. If you're 17 right now, you have never even been a live while the show was running originally. You could be a senior in high school, and you would not have EXISTED while the show was on prime time tv, not in reruns.

So, Hulu is paying almost $180 million dollars for a show that I've watched several thousand times, and that almost 25% of the United States wasn't alive to watch originally.

Hey Hulu, I've got an awesome TV show idea. It's about a radio night jock/stay at home dad during the day. It'll only cost you a few million. It's a steal!

Call me.
