An Ulster County high school marching band is ranked first going into the state championship.

The Kingston High School Tiger Marching Band is currently ranked first, just two weeks away from the The NYSFBC (New York State Field Band Championship) in Syracuse.

They left the audience spell bound during the performance last weekend during the East Ramapo Competition, earning another first place finish. the win put the KHS band into first place overall.

Ten bands will compete will play head to head at the Syracuse Carrier Dome on October 28. It is the only time that all the bands play in one arena.

Prior to that competition the bands compete at various locations throughout the state being judged by the same professional judges so scores can be compared as the season progresses.

Kingston will host their own sanctioned competition on October 21 at Dietz Stadium.

Good luck to Kingston High School in their pursuit for the championship!
