When I first moved to the Hudson Valley, one of the very first places I visited was Hyde Park. My Gram had grown up during the depression and President Franklin Roosevelt was her hero, so I had to go visit his home and presidential library. So, imagine my excitement, when I was asked to emcee the Hyde Park Fourth of July Parade. I have had the pleasure of emceeing this annual tradition for a few years now, and I will once again be joined by Mark Bolger, from Mix 97.7.

This Monday, July 4, I hope to see you at this year's parade. It will start at 10 am and head north on Route 9 and will end at the Regina Coeli School. The theme is the "National Park Service-Celebrating 100 Years." The National Park system includes 411 different parks covering more than 84 million acres in every state, three of which are in our own backyard, The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site, The Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site, and the Vanderbilt Mansion NHS.

Serving as this year's grand marshal, will be over 20 members of staff and volunteers who, whether through natural and cultural resources preservation, gardening and grounds maintenance, administration, interpretation, or law enforcement, give of their time and talent to help preserve our National treasures here in the Hudson Valley.

Bring your family and friends and enjoy the floats, bands, marching units, fire companies, local clubs, and so much more, as we celebrate this great country of ours. Happy Fourth of July!
