Each week on ‘In Touch’, our locally produced public affairs program, I have the pleasure of talking with individuals and organizations from all over the Hudson Valley. We focus on non-profit organizations and volunteers who are working hard to help make all of our communities better places to live, work, and raise our families.

This week, Elizabeth Rowley; President and CEO of Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan and Michelle Hathaway; Director of Development Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan stopped by our studios to talk about the Community Foundation.

Topics included how does the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan work, who it can benefit and the many ways individuals throughout the Hudson Valley can start funds to help future generations through scholarships, grants, etc. We also talked about memorial funds that families can begin after losing a loved one, or, if there is a field of interest that you are passionate about, how you can start a fund to help give monies for education, conferences, etc.

We also spoke about the inaugural Hudson Valley Gives, the Hudson Valley's first ever day of giving on May 18, 2016. It's a 24-Hour online fundraising events that gives Hudson Valley non-profits a chance to reach more people with their message and raise more funds for their organization. As a donor, you choose exactly where you want your money to go.

I always learn something with every show, but this week I was amazed at how easy it is to set-up a fund to help others. If you are interested in talking about setting up a fund or would like more information, call 845-769-9393.
