The Indian Point Energy Center will be conducting a regular quarterly test of their emergency notification system today, Wednesday, February 15th.

As part of today's test, sirens will sound at full volume between 1-1:30 pm. The test is expected to last for approximately four minutes and will be heard in Westchester, Rockland, Orange, and Putnam counties.

According to patch.com, because this is only a test, the public is not required to take any action.

When you hear the sirens, keep in mind that they are not a signal to evacuate. In the event of an actual emergency, you should tune into an Emergency Alert System television or radio station for information and instructions. To find a list of these stations, visit Indian Point's website.
