This controversial video about some of Gamestop's practices was posted to YouTube recently. Now Gamestop is trying to explain.

Apparently, dumpster diving outside of Gamestop stores is a fairly common occurrence; I guess it makes sense that for the hardcore gamer, you've gotta be on the look-out for anything cheap or free to help out that collection.

But is Gamestop just throwing games and accessories out willy-nilly when they could be donating them or finding some use? That's what the creator of this video would like to know.

In response to the video, Gamestop has posted the following message to customers on Facebook:

Hey GameStop fans. We completely agree with the suggestions of donating games or accessories to charitable organizations. We do that routinely with our partners Ronald McDonald House Charities, Make-A-Wish Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Regarding the Dumpster Video: It is our company practice to discard or destroy products that are damaged, defective, no longer work, or cannot be repaired. It is our understanding that this was the case with the product shown in the video.

So, what do you think? You buying their explanation or is this a big waste of games? Or is it their right to do what they will with their products?
