Instead of dreaming for a white Christmas; how about a record breaking Christmas? Weather experts are predicting temperatures will shatter record highs on Christmas Eve in the Hudson Valley.

According to Accuweather, In Poughkeepsie on Christmas Eve the high is 73°, which would smash the record high set in 2003 of 58°. On Christmas the high is expected to  be 62° which would be one degree lower than the record high from 1963.

Over in Carmel, it should be 70° the day before Christmas. A full 13° warmer than the record high from 1996. The following day the high is set for 60° missing the benchmark from 1964 by 3°

Across the river in Newburgh, it’s expected to reach 71° on Christmas Eve, topping the record high of 66° set in 2008. Christmas may also be a record breaking day! The expected high of 62° would better the record of 60° from a year ago.

It should a little warmer north of Newburgh on Christmas Eve. With a high 73° in New Paltz, this would crush the record high set in 2003 by 15°. Christmas will come close to breaking records, the high is set for 60° missing a record from 1964 by 3°

So if you’re getting a new winter coat, hat, gloves, or scarf this holiday season, you likely want to trade them in for a t-shirt and shorts. Well at least for a few days!
