John Lennon’s Killer Up for Parole

Quiet possibly one of the most hated men in America, Mark David Chapman, the man convicted of killing John Lennon is in the headlines again, this time for admitting his mistakes. Chapman was recently up for parole and unlike his parole hearings in the past this time the convicted murderer admitted that he was 'Such an Idiot' for what he did. Im sure there are many, many who agree with that. In his plea for freedom Chapman stated to the parole board..

“My life had sunk into a depressed state. I was drinking … That bright light of fame, of infamy, notoriety was there. I couldn’t resist it. My self-esteem was shot, and I was looking for an easy way out.”

 

Chapman was denied parole this time around, the board saying a reasonable probability that [Chapman] would not live and remain at liberty without again violating the law, and [his] release would be incompatible with the welfare of society and would so deprecate the serious nature of the crime as to undermine respect for the law.”
