You'd be hard-pressed to find a Hollywood success story that's even remotely similar to that of Ken Jeong. The comedian, actor, director, writer, show creator, producer--okay, so he's a true jack-of-all-trades--didn't start out in Hollywood. He didn't grow up the son of a famous Hollywood bigwig, he didn't make his way up as a struggling actor in his late teens and early 20s, busing tables or serving coffee while waiting for his break.

Nope, in case you didn't know, Ken Jeong was a doctor. A real-life, Duke University-educated doctor.

That's also the character he plays on his ABC sitcom, Dr. Ken, just wrapping up its first season. He called up the show to talk about what he's been up to and how his life has allowed him opportunities he never thought he'd have after his whirlwind success over the past decade or so, and how it's a delicate balance being a writer and creator of the show on which you star.
