A Kingston man is accused of selling heroin and other drugs to undercover police officers.

Since earlier this year members, of the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT) has been investigating the sale of diverted pharmaceuticals and heroin in the City of Kingston.

Stephen G. Beesmer, 40, of Kingston allegedly sold heroin and Lorazepam to an undercover cop.

Thursday, Beesmer was arrested at his home in Kingston. He was charged 3rd and 5th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance as well as 3rd and 5th degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, all felonies,

Beesmer was arraigned in the town of Lloyd Court and remanded to the Ulster County jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond, to return to Kingston City Court at a later time.

URGENT was assisted at the time of arrest by Kingston City Police.

The following agencies have members assigned to URGENT: Ulster County Sheriff's Office, Ulster County District Attorney's Office, Town of Woodstock Police, Town of Lloyd Police, Town of Shandaken Police, Ulster County Probation, Town of Plattekill Police, Town of Marlborough Police, Town of New Paltz Police, Village of Ellenville Police and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
