A Kingston teenager is accused of stabbing a 44-year-old man and leaving him in critical condition. Another man was also arrested on the scene.

Monday around 6:00 a.m., Kingston Police responded to Broadway and Elmendorf Street for a fight involving a knife. Officers found a 44-year-old man with stab wounds to his chest.

The unnamed victim was taken to Hudson Valley Health Alliance and then transferred to Vassar Brothers Hospital where he underwent surgery. He’s still in the hospital in critical condition.

Police allege that 19-year-old Gilbert D. Thomas, of Kingston stabbed the 44-year-old man. Thomas was charged with 1st-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon, felonies. He is being held in Kingston prison while waiting for arraignment.

During the investigation, 29-year-old Marvin Parada, of Kingston is accused of giving officials a fake name to avoid being arrested for an outing felony warrant for forgery and an outstanding violation of probation warrant.

Parada was arrested and charged with criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor. He was processed and held for arraignment.
