Kurt’s Infamous Mohair Sweater Sells at Auction For a Stupid Amount of Money
MTV's Unplugged was an amazing series of live, acoustic music when it first kicked off. It made these larger than life artists seem human and almost vulnerable in a way.
The infamous sweater that Kurt wore in that Unplugged session recently sold at auction for $137,500, according to Spin Magazine. Not the guitar, not the chair he was on. Not any other instrument. His sweater.
When Nirvana had their Unplugged session, I was glued to my TV. I ate, slept and breathed Nirvana; seeing Kurt in that sweater with an acoustic guitar crooning away it was almost a shock. It was a really amazing look into who we all thought Kurt was.
That sweater. God how I wanted to pull that look off but never could. I wore my flannel, I grew my hair long, I bought the band shirt. But I could never get that look.
And now someone has paid more than half of what my house is worth to LITERALLY own that look.
Damn.
