As the weather warms up, or is supposed to warm up, construction on roads and bridges once again begin to take place. In the past couple of weeks, we've talked about road closures, bridge replacement, and other impacts to your daily commute. Here's one more to add to that list.

According to the Dutchess County Department of Public Works, work is expected to begin on Palen Road on, or close to Monday, April 11. This project will include the installaltion of  roadside drainage, stone scour protection, final paving and striping, and topsoil and seeding for the Bridge E-9 project on Palen Road (CR 31) in the Town of East Fishkill.

While this work is being done, there will always be one lane open to traffic, controlled by a traffic light. During non-work hours, this traffic light will be turned off and two-way traffic will resume on Palen Road. These hours are expected to be around 4 pm until 8 am.

While this project is expected to only last around three weeks, it will complicate travelling in an area where another near-by bridge is closed until October and Palen road is a detour.
