The very last steel beam left from the World Trade Center has been delivered to a special memorial right here in the Hudson Valley.

For years, the Port Authority has been placing relics from the twin towers in communities throughout the 50 states and across the world. These pieces of steel that remain after the attacks of 9/11 have been used in memorials visited by countless Americans wishing to honor the service and sacrifice of those who lost their lives on that fateful day.

Just this week the Port Authority handed out the last remaining piece of World Trade Center steel. The special relic was delivered on April 27 to the Beacon Elks Lodge #1493 right here in the Hudson Valley. The lodge, in a Facebook posting, says that they will place the beam in a memorial on the Elks Lodge property.

The final 9/11 steel beam was delivered by Tom Masch of "Mommas Towing" who was escorted by motorcycles, police and fire vehicles as he approached the relic's final destination in Beacon.  Masch is a former U.S. Army Veteran and has served at the Hughsonville Fire Department for over 25 years. March also donated his services to pick up and deliver another beam in memory of Sgt. Mark. Palmatier.

That other steel beam from the World Trade Center is currently on display in Wappingers Falls at a memorial to Sgt. Palmateer. It's located next to DCH Wappingers Falls Toyota on Route 9 and available for viewing 24 hours a day. The memorial at the Elks Lodge will also be open to the public.
