Legislators from one Hudson Valley county could see their salaries double, but will need to give something up to make it work.

The Daily Freeman reports Ulster County has an offer on the table to double salaries of legislators, but they will have to give up or pay for their health insurance plans. The proposed salaries could cost taxpayers between $42,000 and $55,000 a year.

The public has an opportunity to comment on the proposals on September 29th from 7-9pm. The pay raises do not affect county executive, sheriff or county clerk.

The insurance plan offered to legislators costs approximately $246,000 a year total.
