It's the second fatal motorcycle accident in less than a week. The accident occurred on South Avenue in the Town of Pleasant Valley on Saturday evening, killing both the driver and passenger. According to Hudson Valley News Network the victims were identified as Poughkeepsie residents Frederick A. Eberhard III and Alysha Simpfenderfer both just twenty-five years old.

A preliminary investigation shows that unsafe speed is thought to be the primary contributing factor in the accident. Officials say Eberhard lost control of his 2011 BMW motorcycle and hit a tree after failing to navigate a sharp curve near Plass rd. Both were wearing helmets. Eberhard was pronounced dead at the scene and Simpfenderfer was pronounced dead at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.

Eberhard is a 2008 graduate of Arlington High School and Simpfenderfer a 2008 graduate of Roy C. Ketcham High School.
