A longtime softball coach and guidance counselor in the Hudson Valley was fired from her position on Monday for changing her son's grades. The Poughkeepsie Journal is reporting that Bonnie Schilling was fired from the Wappingers Central School district after being on administrative leave since the spring.

After a lengthy investigation, Schilling was finally charged with tampering with public records in September after turning herself over to police. Over the summer her lawyer, Michael Susan, told the Poughkeepsie Journal that the school was investigating an allegation that Schilling changed a grade for her son who was a student at John Jay high school.

The guidance counselor and coach lead the John Jay varsity softball team for 18 seasons, helping them obtain two state championships.

Schilling can appeal the unanimous decision of the school district if she wishes. In the meantime, she is due back in court for the tampering charges on January 22.
