If you're a Netflix customer, be warned: there's an email scam going around the Hudson Valley using the company's name to try to get your credit card info.

Putnam County sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. is reporting that residents in the area have been receiving sophisticated emails claiming to be from Netflix. Supposedly, it looks a lot like the real thing. It claims that there is a billing issue that needs to be resolved, with a link that says "Update Payment" that leads to a site that looks like a real Netflix page. Once the users enter their credit card and password, that information is sent to scammers.

It's important to keep a watchful eye and always be skeptical of any strange-sounding email that gets sent your way. If you're a Putnam County resident and think you've been a victim of this scam or have any other information, you can call for assistance at the sheriff's office at 845-225-4300.
