A cat found in Ulster County had wandered some 700 miles from home before being reconnected with her family two years later. The Times Herald Record reports the cat began showing up outside a branch of Ulster Savings Bank in Kingston recently. Staff began feeding the cat, even giving her the name Penny. Last week an employee of the bank took Penny to the SPCA to get her shots and to be spayed. That's when things got interesting.

Upon investigation, Ulster SPCA medical director Brian Schoonmaker, quickly learned Penny had already been spayed. At that point he attempted to locate a microchip containing her family's info. The chip was located but the address was out of date. After some investigation, the family was found and coincidentally vacationing in Long Island.

After learning their cat had been found, the mother of the family drove up and claimed the cat, 'Izzy' as she was known in her other life. The family has asked to remain anonymous, and are reportedly very happy to have their beloved pet back.
