Man Threw Stolen Walmart Steaks at Police

I've seen enough high-speed car chases to know that they cause people to get completely desperate and willing to do anything to get away.

All right, so yeah, of course I've never actually experienced a high-speed chase first hand, but I've watched a lot of bad TV and movies over the years, and suffice to say, I'm kind of an expert on the matter.

You've gotta do what you've gotta do to get away. Some people, like pretty much everyone in Mad Max: Fury Road are excellent at it, devising ways to divert those behind them from catching up. Others are, well, more like this guy. He clearly didn't have an escape plan, so he ended up improvising, doing it on the fly, and trying to figure out a way to throw the cops off with whatever he had on hand.
