The man who says he shot Bin Laden will be coming to the Hudson Valley for a fundraising event on October 4th in Orange County.

Retired Navy Seal Robert O'Neill is the man who put a bullet in Bin Laden's brain on May 2nd of 2011. He says it could have been done by any member of the team that raided Bin Laden's compound that night, but he was the one who found himself face to face with the terrorist.

O'Neill wrote a book about that raid called "The Operator: Firing the Shots that Killed Osama bin Laden" and when he first came out and said he was the one who took Bin Laden out, he did get lots of backlash from the government. It was not considered appropriate to leak that information to the public.

Mid Hudson News reports that O'Neill is speaking at Anthony's Pier 9 in New Windsor as a fundraiser for Orange County Executive Steve Neuhouse. There will be a book signing before his speech. It should be an interesting event, because the former seal saw lots of combat.

O’Neill retired from the Navy in 2012 as senior chief petty officer, participated in over 400 missions as a SEAL, including the bin Laden raid in Pakistan
