Gene Simmons and a few others may have told Donald Trump they'd be skipping the inauguration, however one local marching band will be in Washington D.C. performing that day.

Marist College spokesman Greg Cannon said on Thursday that the school's marching band will perform at the inauguration on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017.

The Poughkeepsie Journal says that Cannon said the college submitted its performance request way before the Nov. 8 election.

So why did Marist apply? According to Cannon, "to give our great band the possible opportunity to show off their talents on a national stage."

Cannon also said that Marist had applied in the past and hadn't been selected. He implied this wasn't so much a pro-Donald Trump move and that the school wanted to perform regardless of who won the election.

As of right now, there isn't much word on exactly what the Marist marching band's involvement will be that day.
