The Marist College men's basketball team will head into next season with a new coach at the helm. According to a press release, Marist College Director of Athletics Tim Murray announced the arrival of John Dunne as head coach Thursday in the McCann Center.

Dunne joins the program after a dozen years at conference rival St. Peter's University. His accomplishments include a MAAC Championship in 2011 and a 2017 CIT Tournament championship. Dunne becomes the 12th coach in program history.

Marist has had a tremendously successful women's program in recent years but the men have been unable to replicate that success. They haven't had a winning season in a decade. Here's hoping coach Dunne can turn that around sometime soon.

Coach Mike Maker was relieved of his duties in early March after 4 years of sub .500 basketball. At the time Athletics Director Murray stated the goal was to compete for a MAAC championship each season.
