Desmond Lindsay was drafted by the Mets last year in the 2nd round, and was the Mets first pick in the 2015 draft. (Their first round was forfeited due to signing Michael Cuddyer.) He hit .263 in 2 different levels in the 2015 minor league season. Lots of people expected him to come out and start swinging with authority in Columbia with the Mets Single A affiliate.

However, there were some reports that Desmond had sustained a concussion and that some hamstring issues, and we didn't get to see Desmond until late in the minor league season.

HOWEVER. The 19 year old, once he finally got out of extended spring training, has seemingly picked up where he left off; albeit at the same levels he was in last year.

Desmond is clearly been paying attention to the instructors in the Mets system. He played 5 games with the GCL Mets and hit .364. Since he seemed to be beyond the competition at the base rookie level, the Mets sent him to the big stage rookie level in Brooklyn with the Cyclones.

Lindsay has spent 16 games in the NY-Penn League, and has not let his foot off the accelerator for a minute. 15 games is not a lot, but the returns has been excellent for far. Desmond has hit .347 with 3 home runs, 3 doubles, 11 RBI and 8 walks. He's also currently on a 6 game hitting streak, hitting.417 during that time.

Sure, it's still only a rookie league, but it's a highly competitive league where a lot of high round draft picks hang out. It's a small sample, but it's really exciting to see a young player start to come into his own. And God knows the Mets need help in the OF department in their minor leagues. Here's hoping he's done enough to skip Columbia and head straight to St. Lucie and the Advanced A league next year. Better yet, maybe even spend some time in the Arizona Fall League.
