The Brooklyn Cyclones play the rubber game of a 3 game series tonight, at Dutchess Stadium against the Hudson Valley Renegades.

In Sundays game, Hudson Valley starting pitcher Travis Ott brought his serious "A" game. 6 innings pitched, 2 hits, no earned runs and 6 strike outs. Drafted in the 25th round in 2013, it looks like Ott is finally putting everything together in a stellar NY-Penn league season. He has yet to give up an earned run in 25 innings. That's kinda good.

The Brooklyn Cyclones got on the winning side in the series last night with a strong start by Erik Manoah and a show of power at the plate by 2016 2nd round pick Pete Alonso.

Manoah, a 13th round pick in 2014, has had an up and down season, but pitched up to the competition yesterday. 5 innings, 4 hits, one earned run was a good showing.

But the story of the night was Pete Alonso showing why he was a 2nd round pick. Hitting .289, since joining the team late due to playing in the College World Series, Alonso went 2 for 4 on the night with a double, a home run, 2 rbi's and one walk. Alonso has the reputation as a phenomenal bat, if he can adjust to hitting off speed pitches. He's such a good hitter, he might push Dominic Smith for the #1 first base prospect in the Mets system.

The rubber game of the series is tonight at Dutchess Stadium. Cyclones pitcher Gabriel Llanes has his work cut out for him as he goes against Eduard Rossillo for the Renegades. Rossillo has a miniscule 0.56 era in 2 games. Hit the link for tickets.
