Whenever Mets fans think about the reasons the team might not sign the biggest and most expensive free agents every year, one that always sticks out is the fact that they're going to have to eventually pay the pitching staff. That bill is starting to come due.

This week, the Mets agreed to arbitration with a few of their pitchers, and one in particular got a rather huge raise.

Jacob deGrom: $607,000 to $4.05 million
Matt Harvey: $4.325 million to $5.125 million
Jeurys Familia: $4.1 million to $7.425 million
Addison Reed: $5.3 million to $7.75 million

Those additions alone, with just keeping the personnel they already have, cost the Mets roughly $10 million dollars. And when Syndergaard and Matz become arbitration eligible, that is going to be WAY more expensive. It's a little bit of a problem, but it's a good problem to have.
