Teachers that make you want to come to class are rare. Everyone wants to sign up for those classes. Michael Stipe has signed on to teach. Want to see if you can be in his class? Here are the details:Former R.E.M. fronter Michael Stipe has landed a residency at NYU's Steinhardt Department of Art, where he'll teach a class called "New Sights, New Noise," focusing on media in the internet age. "The title 'New Sights, New Noise' refers directly to the glut and onslaught of information made available by the Internet, often without context or authorship; the disproportionate and impulsive reactions that it provokes, and the reckless cynicism of a 24 hour news cycle," Stipe explained on R.E.M.'s official website.  Each week, Stipe and his students will be joined by a guest artist, who'll give the class a prompt to which each will generate 100 images and GIFs.
