A body found Saturday has been identified as Halle Schmidt, a 21-year old woman who went missing on September 2nd.

Halle P. Schmidt, 21, of Copake was reported missing by her family on September 4th. Authorities asked for the public's assistance in locating Schmidt.

On Saturday September 10th, Columbia County Sheriffs positively identified her body, after it was found in a  wooded area off Old Post Road in Kinderhook, NY. they were able to identify her by evidence collected at the scene.

The positive identification came following an autopsy, which was conducted at St.Peter's Hospital on Sunday morning. Authorities are still waiting for forensic testing that was conducted during the autopsy.

Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett said:

Ms. Schmidt is in fact the woman that had been reported missing to the Sheriff’s Office on Sunday September 4, 2016.  Ms. Schmidt was identified by matching clothing that she was last seen wearing, tattoos that were on her body, and information that was obtained through the investigation
