A local multiplex theater is set for major renovations that will come just in time for some big blockbuster releases.

With major motion pictures like "Star Wars: Episode VII," "Batman v Superman" and "Captain America: Civil War" on the way, Hudson Valley moviegoers can look forward to some long-awaited upgrades and enhancements at one of its most popular theaters.

The Times Herald Record reports that the AMC Theaters in the Galleria at Crystal Run has announced an ambitious project that is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The theater will get a complete remodel, including new carpets and paint. But more importantly, there will be brand new screens, an upgraded sound system, recliner seating and an expanded menu.

The Record reports that the new recliner seats at the 16-screen AMC Theater will be electronically controlled by the user and also include foot rests. You may want to remain in the upright position, however, while taking advantage of the new food selections which are expected to include hot offerings such as pizza, mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers.

A highly popular Coca-Cola Freestyle machine, which gives self-serve customers the ability to select over 100 different types of soda will also be included in the upgrade, which is part of AMC's nationwide rollout to over 350 different theaters

The Poughkeepsie Galleria's Regal Cinemas was more recently renovated and already has many of the upgrades that will finally be coming to the AMC Theater.
