Nearly 50 Charged Following DWI Crackdown in Hudson Valley

Police arrested nearly 50 drivers for allegedly driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol in the Hudson Valley.

Recently, police in the Hudson Valley announced they were going to crackdown on drunk driving. 

Police from all across New York were out in a coordinated effort to stop the number of drunk driving-related injuries and deaths. The crackdown led to 47 arrests in about a week.

Dutchess County

• Johnny J. Symes, 52, of East Fishkill was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI under Leandra's Law and aggravated unlicensed operation, all felonies. Symes was arrested following a one-car rollover crash on New Hackensack Road in the Town of LaGrange. Neither Symes nor his eight-year-old passenger were injured, police say.
• David M. Leroy, 28, of Hyde Park was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, and DWI, a misdemeanor in Pleasant Valley.
• Philip Dunham, 34, of C.T., was charged with DWI, BAC .08% or more & aggravated unlicensed operation, all felonies in the Village of Millerton.
• A 21-year-old from Wappingers Falls was charged with DWI & BAC .08% or more in the City of Poughkeepsie.
• A 32-year-old from Maybrook was charged with DWI & BAC .08% or more in the City of Poughkeepsie.
• A 46-year-old from Poughkeepsie was arrested for DWI & BAC .08% or more in the City of Poughkeepsie.
• A 26-year-old from Poughkeepsie was charged with a DWI after an accident in the Town of LaGrange.
• A 21-year-old from Hyde Park was charged with DWI & BAC 08% or more in the Town of Hyde Park.
• A 27-year-old from Poughkeepsie was charged with DWI & Aggravated DWI (BAC .18% or more) in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
• A 30-year-old from Poughkeepsie was arrested for DWI & Aggravated DWI (BAC .18% or more) in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
• A 54-year-old from Beacon was charged with DWAI Drugs.
• A 29-year-old from Brewster was charged with charged with DWI & Aggravated DWI.
• A 40-year-old from Poughkeepsie was arrested for DWI.
• A 25-year-old from Salt Point was charged with DWI & BAC .08% or more.
• A 49-year-old from Wingdale was charged with DWI & BAC .08% or more.

Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia, Rockland, or Green County

• A 38-year-old from North Carolina was charged with DWAI Drugs after he drove into a fence in town of Catskill.
• A 55-year-old from Cohoes was charged with DWI in the town of Cairo.
• A 23-year-old from Newburgh was arrested for DWI on Leroy Place in the City of Newburgh.
• A 32-year-old from Newburgh was charged with DWI on Route 9W in the Town of Newburgh.
• A 35-year-old from Marlboro was arrested for DWI on Route 9W in Marlboro.
• A 23-year-old from Pennsylvania was charged with DWI on Route 17 in Monroe.
• A 22-year-old from Middletown was arrested for DWI on Highland Avenue in Middletown.
• A 27-year-old from Nanuet was charged with DWI on the Palisades Parkway in the town of Orangetown.
• A 32-year-old from Maryland was arrested for DWI on Route 59 in the village of Spring Valley.
• A 31-year-old from Jeffersonville was arrested for DWI on Route 52 in the town of Callicoon.
• A 25-year-old from Hunter was arrested for DWI on Platte Clove Road in the Town of Hunter.
• A 55-year-old from Cairo was charged with DWI on Route 23 in Cairo.
• A 22-year-old from Coxsackie was charged with DWI on Route 9W in New Baltimore.
• A 39-year-old from West Coxsackie was charged with DWI on Shady Lane in the town of New Baltimore.

• A 22-year-old from Slate Hill was arrested for DWI on Lloyds Lane.
• A 56-year-old from Maryland was charged with DWI traveling on Interstate 84 in the town of Wallkill.
• A 30-year-old from Pine Bush was arrested for DWAI Drugs on Route 208 in the town of Montgomery.
• A 29-year-old from Walden was charged with DWI traveling on State Route 32 in the town of Newburgh.
• A 26-year-old from Monticello was arrested for DWI traveling on West Broadway in the village of Monticello.
• A 28-year-old from Kauneonga Lake was charged with DWI on State Route 55 in the town of Bethel.
• A 29-year-old from Kingston was arrested for DWI traveling on State Route 9W in the town of Esopus.
• A 41-year-old from Catskill was charged with DWI on State Route 23A in the town of Catskill.
• A 26-year-old from New Hampton was arrested for DWI on Seward Road in the town of Wawayanda.
• A 29-year-old from New York City was arrested for DWI after police allegedly found him sleeping at a Tannersville gas station. The driver is accused of hitting a gas pump while trying to drive away.
• A 44-year-old from Scotchtown was charged with DWI traveling on State Route 17 in the town of Chester.
• A 29-year-old from New City was arrested for DWI on Route 9W in the town of Newburgh.
• A 30-year-old from Brooklyn was charged with DWI on State Route 17 in the town of Rockland.
• A 27-year-old from Hastings on the Hudson was arrested for DWI after a crash on Route 11 in the town of Lloyd.
• A 23-year-old from Newburgh was charged with DWI on Route 300 in the City of Newburgh.
