Neighbor Helps Police Track Down 3 Dutchess County Home Burglars, Police Say

Three Dutchess County residents were arrested after an alert neighbor tipped police about a possible home invasion.

On Monday morning, Dutchess County 911 dispatched State Police from Dover Plains to a possible burglary in progress on Cooperstown Road in the Town of Dover.

A witness reported that that two males removed items from a home and placed them into a vehicle.

While driving to the home, troopers noticed a vehicle that matched the suspect’s car on Dover Furnace Road attempting to turn south onto State Route 22.

The three occupants of the vehicle, 25-year-old Dwayne Robbins, 25-year-old James D. Moore and 23-year-old Kelsey A. Vincent all from the Town of Dover, were known by police. Their vehicle was later located by State Police at Southeast Auto Recycling in the Town of Dover.

While continuing the investigation officials allege that the suspects had salvaged the proceeds from the burglary at the Southeast Auto Recycling.

It was also determined that the vehicle in question, driven by Vincent, had a forged 2017 inspection sticker attached to the windshield, switched license plates, no insurance, and that Vincent was operating with a suspended NYS Driver’s license, police say.

All three were all charged with burglary and criminal possession of stolen property, felonies. Vincent was also charged with an additional felony for possession of a forged instrument.

All three were arraigned in the Town of Dover Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond. They are due back in court on March 13.
