I'll admit. I was skeptical when I heard they were turning the movie "12 Monkeys" into a show on SyFy. However (shameless name drop), the husband of a good friend of mine was hired as a writer on the show and I've seen his work before. Dude knows how to make some scary ish.

SyFy has been doing some REALLY interesting stuff lately, while getting away from the hokier type of shows they've been known for lately. Gone are the Eureka and Warehouse 13's of the world, replaced with shows like Helix and Ascension.  I really wouldn't mind both, but there needs to be some balance. SyFy got very silly for awhile, once Battlestar Galactica left the air.

In order to make one of their new flagship properties even more realistic, SyFy has teamed up with Phillips to coordinate the shows colors with their Hue lighting system. Hue is essentially a system of LED lightbulbs that are connected via an internet connection and can be controlled by an app or central controller. Turning on and off, lightening/darkening and changing colors are all possible with the system.

This is next level stuff. Seriously. We all thought that 3D or Imax would revolutionize movie theater viewing. Can you even comprehend a TV show that connects to the lights in your house to further immerse you in your TV viewing? When a main character walks down the hallway in a haunted house, the lights dim in anticipation of a frightening encounter with a ghoul. Rick from The Walking Dead getting attacked by shufflers, and the lights go red in your room to further the feeling of blood shed.

Seriously. That's NUTS.

My brother in law got this lighting system for Christmas. My sister already put the kibosh on 12 Monkeys. Hit the link to get your own system. And then invite me over.
