A New Jersey man was spotted and arrested in the Hudson Valley following a report that he kidnapped a woman.

Police say a thorough investigation revealed that on April 30 39-year-old Rasheed McKenith, of Newark, NJ allegedly abducted a woman against her will in New Jersey.

While traveling on the New York State Thruway in Rockland County the woman was able to escape from the vehicle, unharmed. She then found help from passing motorists in the the Village of Sloatsburg.

McKenith fled the area, officials say. Interviews with witnesses at the scene and information obtained from the Newark Police Department led to the arrest of McKenith.

On Tuesday New York State Police in Haverstraw arrested McKenith for 2nd-degree kidnapping. He was arraigned in the Village of Sloatsburg Court and remanded to Rockland County Jail in lieu $25,000 cash bail.
