This week Governor Andrew Cuomo signed new legislation that aims to aid in the expansion of home-brew beer, wine and cider making in New York.

Many home brewers and wine makers are finding it difficult to find space to produce their product and this new bill will assist in creating that space. According to the Governors office the new law opens the door...literally...for those looking to
produce beer, wine, or cider for home consumption.

"The craft beverage industry has taken this state by storm, and more and more New Yorkers want to try their hand at making the next great Empire State beer, wine, or cider," Governor Cuomo said. "This new law builds upon this increased interest, supports local agriculture, and breaks down artificial barriers to allow innovation and creativity to flow."

Officials say the production centers will provide a space to urban and suburban residents who otherwise might not be able to afford the space or have access to the necessary equipment to produce their product. The centers will also allow for more local ingredients to be used in the production along with expert training for those just starting out. The new centers will be monitored by state liquor authorities.
