Rumors have been swirling for nearly two years regarding new music from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It appears the time is finally here to listen to what they've been working on.

The Chili Peppers will drop a new song Thursday called 'Dark Necessities'. This will be the first new music we've heard from the band in nearly five years. It's also the first audio we'll be hearing from them that hasn't been a collaboration with Rick Rubin since the 80s.  The band instead chose to work on the new album with producer Danger Mouse who's known for his work with Black Keys, Gorillaz and Broken Bells (among others). 2011's I'm With You featured the singles 'Look Around', 'Monarchy of Roses' and 'The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie'.

With headlining gigs at Lollapalooza, Rock on the Range and some major European festival dates, Anthony, Flea, Chad and Josh will be busy this summer. They're expected to announce details of the new album release after the sing drops on Thursday. It's hitting the WRRV airwaves as soon as we get it.
