Gov.ernor Cuomo wants everyone in a car to be buckled up anytime the car is moving.

According to the Daily News, inside the 2018-19 New York State budget is a measure that would expand New York’s seat belt law to cover riders in back seats as well as the front.

The current law only requires back seat passengers to wear seat belts if they are under sixteen years old.

According to AAA, in 2016, 2,500 back seat car passengers were injured in accidents and some could have been avoided if the passengers were buckled up.

AAA spokesman Robert Sinclair told the Daily News that “This is something we have been clamoring for.”

Many states already have the seat belt law in effect. We will find out if the back seat seatbelt law will pass or not when the New York State budget is voted on April 1.
