It started in 1980 at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, as a very small sheep sale. Over the years, it has transformed into a two-day festival for those who not only raise sheep and other livestock, but also for those who love to sew, spin, knit, crochet, weave, felt, and more.

There are a wide variety of workshops covering everything from rag weaving, felt making, how to dye silk, crocheting, knitting, and more. There will also be fleece show and sales, kids activities, various competitions, food, and fun for the whole family. Don't forget the Make it With Wool Competition and Fashion Show on Saturday, October 15 from 1 to 2 in Building E.

If you are in the market for amazing yarns, fleeces, or wools to create with, or to give as a gift for those crafters on your list, you cannot let this festival pass you by. Every year, I swear I will make it to every vendor before I start shopping, this has never happened because there are too many beautiful items that I absolutely must take home.

Admission is $12 per day at the gate, or you can get a weekend pass for only $17. Who knows, maybe I will see you there. I'll be the one with way too many shopping bags for only one person.
