An expecting upstate New York family had to improvise when, on the way to the hospital, the baby decided to come early. Lohud reports Kristi and Adrian Koppenhafer were forced to pull the car over when, just 15 minutes from the hospital, the baby decided it was time to meet her parents whether they were ready or not.

Thankfully officers from the Troop T barracks were on the scene within minutes after the Koppenhaffers called 911. Two NYS Troopers were able to help Kristi onto a blanket on the side of the Thruway where the baby arrived shortly after they arrived. EMTs arrived to the scene shortly thereafter, but in the meantime Skylar was wrapped in a hoodie that was stored in the car.

From there, they checked into Samaritan Hospital and were discharged less than two days later. This is the second daughter for the couple, their oldest is five.
