A traffic stop on Interstate 84 lead to the arrest of a Newburgh man and a woman from the Bronx for alleged possession of crack and heroin.

New York State Police – Montgomery BCI charged 29-year-old Roy A. Francis Jr. of Newburgh and 29-year-old Amanda Ortiz of Bronx with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor.

On Saturday, State Police pulled over a car which was occupied by Francis and Ortiz on I-84 in the Town of Montgomery. Police say crack-cocaine and heroin was found in the car’s glove compartment.

Francis and Ortiz were arraigned in the Town of Montgomery Court and were remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of bail. Ortiz’s bail was set at $5,000cash $10,000 bond. Francis is being held on $10,000 cash $20,000 bond bail.

Both subjects are due back in the Town of Montgomery Court on Sept. 21.
