The city of Newburgh is spending $193,000 to install more than a dozen new security cameras in an attempt to cover all of the city's crime hot spots.

This is a huge move by the city to prevent crime in the area, and the cameras should all be installed by early September. In total, the city will have at least 31 security cameras, plus a few more that will be placed outside of municipal buildings. There will also be a security camera located outside of city hall.

Newburgh is a great city with a lot of awesome nightlife, but the crime element often keeps people from coming by. This is a great move by the city which I think will yield positive results. If people know they're being watched in public, they're less likely to commit a crime, right?

What do you think? Is there something else the city of Newburgh could be doing in its battle against crime?
