Popular bar and eatery The Wherehouse opened eight years ago this weekend, and they're throwing a big party to celebrate on Saturday. Owner Daniel Brown took a big risk opening a business in a tough part of Newburgh. But here we are eight years later, and the business and surrounding community is showing serious signs of life.

The Wherehouse first opened for business on February 25th 2009, and according to a recent Facebook post from Mr. Brown, the early days were challenging to say the least.

...back then the business's on liberty street were scattered few and far between and after 6pm the only business open were the Terrace Tavern and the occasional bodega on Broadway which were all blocks apart. The street lights were faulty at best on Liberty street. so I found myself standing on the corner in the dark hoping for a brighter future.

That brighter future is upon us and you can help celebrate by joining in on the festivities and a full day of live music. The music kicks off at 4 p.m. and will wrap up around closing time. Don't miss 8th anniversary cupcakes at 6:45! For more information you can visit the Facebook event page.
