A couple of New York lawmakers believe those laundry detergent pods are just too irresistible for some.

Tide laundry pods have been a cause for concern for a couple of years, but now the debate has been brought to the forefront due to the rise of teens participating in the "Tide Pod Challenge" on social media.

New York Senator Brad Holyman and Representative Aravella Simotas have drafted a letter to Procter and Gamble asking them to make some big changes to their product. In the letter the lawmakers demand P&G make the pods a more uniform color. In addition they're asking the company to make changes to the taste, aroma and firmness of the product:

...you and other manufacturers must use a stronger bittering agent to prevent ingestion of pods, reduce their pleasant smell, and make them feel more firm. All of these changes would make laundry pods less attractive to children, teens, and adults with mental disabilities.

The letter claims that the American Association of Poison Control Centers reported over 10,000 poisonings due to laundry pods in 2017.

What do you think? Are laundry pods too appealing to small children, teens and adults with dementia as the New York lawmakers claim? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or on our Website.
