State Senator Pat Gallivan is a Western New York Republican. He is asking his government colleges for more money for NY schools. That's nothing new but this is for a purpose. To increase Resource Officers in schools in order to prevent potential violence.

A Resource Officer is a sworn law enforcement officer who is responsible for providing security and crime prevention services in schools. While the nation argues over gun control laws and how to prevent school shootings that way, Senator Gallivan is asking for money now from the upcoming budget.

A portion of the already proposed budget is where this money would come from. It's rare when I see a politician try to solve a problem without taking more money from tax payers but shifting the allocation of funds from one program to another.

There's only so much money in our state budget so I'm curious if this get's enough traction and passes, what financial sacrifices are going to have to be made in order to carry out this idea.
